Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gaither, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against Jefferson by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won four in a row.
Jackson Mirza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Matt Altman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Angel Hernandez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ryder Warriner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Gaither's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Riverview, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Saturday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Riverview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Gaither struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
