The Westside Rams lost against the Greer Yellow Jackets back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Westside ended up on the wrong side of a rough 74-50 walloping at the hands of Greer. While losing is never fun, Westside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Greer is ranked 15th).
Westside's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Williams, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was Williams' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Westside and nudges their season record down to 6-8. As for Greer, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westside is on the road again on Friday and play against Abbeville at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Abbeville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Greer, they will head out on the road to face off against Wade Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Wade Hampton: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Greer has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
