REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - 
Sequoia (Redwood City, Calif.) took an early lead against 
Woodside (Calif.) and held on for a 44-26 victory on Saturday.
The Cherokee put up 13 points in the opening frame. Sequoia scored on a 
Faavae Brown touchdown pass to 
Spencer Smith and a Brown touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a Brown touchdown run in the first quarter, SHS was up 20-7 at the half.
The Redwood City school expanded its lead to 27 points entering the fourth quarter. The Cherokee scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Brown.
Sequoia avenged last year's 42-35 loss to the Wildcats with the victory.
The loss was the third in a row for Woodside. The win brought Sequoia's winning streak to three games.
In a non-conference game next week Sequoia (3-0) takes on Cedar City, and Woodside (0-3) will go up against Sacred Heart Prep also in a non-conference game.
