Basketball Game Preview: Westwood Christian Warriors vs. Belen Jesuit Wolverines

Having just played yesterday, the Westwood Christian Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Belen Jesuit Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Westwood Christian's tournament run continued when they took on Monsignor McClancy on Thursday. Westwood Christian put the hurt on Monsignor McClancy with a sharp 72-50 victory. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Westwood Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devin Mcintyre led the charge by going 7 of 11 en route to 19 points along with eight assists and three steals. The matchup was Mcintyre's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Martinez, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Belen Jesuit had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Wolfpack as they made off with a 67-46 win. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 403rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Belen Jesuit is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Westwood Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Westwood Christian was dealt a bruising 80-49 defeat at the hands of Belen Jesuit when the teams last played back in January of 2023. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Westwood Christian was down 45-23.
