On Friday, the Olympia Titans faced the Edgewater Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Olympia came out on top against Edgewater by a score of 69-58. Winning may never get old, but Olympia sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
It was another big night for Kameren Wright, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sean Owens, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Edgewater lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zion Mitchell. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with two steals. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Donovan Williams Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Olympia's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-4. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 18.57 points. As for Edgewater, their loss dropped their record down to 14-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Olympia and Apopka will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Apopka will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Olympia is ranked 15th). As for Edgewater, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Winter Haven at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
