There's no place like home for the Columbus Blue Devils, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They pulled ahead with a 54-53 photo finish over Dougherty. The score was all tied up 28-28 at the break, but Columbus was the better team in the second half.
Columbus' win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karson Baldwin, who scored 12 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaireus joshua (jj) Johnson, who scored nine points along with three blocks.
Dougherty's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaleke Singletary-Jinks, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Jawuan Jinks jr, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Dougherty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Columbus' win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Dougherty, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus will take on the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Thomasville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Saturday. As for Dougherty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
