After two games on the road, Slocum is heading back home. They will take on the Martinsville Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Slocum scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 88-38 victory over Centerville on the road. With that win, Slocum brought their scoring average up to 50.7 points per game.
Slocum's success was spearheaded by the efforts of James Lindsey, who scored 16 points, and Carter Sbrusch, who scored 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lindsey has scored all season. Creede Kessel was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Martinsville waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Apple Springs with a 62-58 victory.
Slocum pushed their record up to 8-15 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Martinsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Slocum took a serious blow against Martinsville when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 77-37. Can Slocum avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
