The Heritage Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 39-29 to Westview.
Despite the loss, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: Trinitee Brown scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Brown scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Grace Guenthner, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Westview found their leader in underclassman Bre Cory, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Olivia Bontrager was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Heritage bumped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Westview, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.
Heritage will take on Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Westview, they will be playing at home against Lakeland at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Lakeland is ranked 331st, while Westview is ranked 312th).
