Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Fort White Indians, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 17-10 to the Fightin' Tigers on Friday. Fort White's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Jayden Jackson threw for 156 yards and a touchdown. Najeeb Smith was his top target, picking up 88 receiving yards. On the ground, Dakota Fisher rushed for 108 yards.
Among those leading the charge was Trenton Klein, who threw for 172 yards and a touchdown on only 16 passes.
Fort White's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Union County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Fort White does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Union County will head out on the road to face off against Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Madison County: 13.1, Union County: 11.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
