The San Clemente Tritons entered their tilt with the Tesoro Titans with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. San Clemente enjoyed a cozy 38-24 victory over Tesoro on Friday. Given San Clemente's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Tesoro is ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Clemente had a senior duo take command as Dylan Mills rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries and Aiden Rubin rushed for 195 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Rubin is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Herlean, who picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Travis Wood and Cash O'Byrne certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Wood rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown, while O'Byrne threw for 286 yards and a touchdown.
San Clemente's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Tesoro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
San Clemente will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. John Bosco at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. St. John Bosco is on a five-game streak of home wins, San Clemente a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Tesoro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
