The Highlands Ranch Falcons lost to the Ponderosa Mustangs at home  by a   42-28 margin on Thursday. It was the first time  this season that the Falcons let down their fans at home.
 Highlands Ranch's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Crew Gerig, who threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.  George West also helped with two touchdowns in total.
 Ponderosa was led to victory by  De'Alcapon Veazy and  Colter Espinoza.  Veazy rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, while  Espinoza rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Espinoza got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 72 yards.
 Highlands Ranch moved to 5-2 with that  defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Ponderosa, they now  have a winning record of 4-3.
 It'll be Battle of the Birds when  Falcons dukes it out withDakota Ridge at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. They will roll in looking for their  seventh straight  victory, something Highlands Ranch surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ponderosa, they will head out to  face off against Golden  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Ponderosa is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
