Basketball Game Preview: Neumann Celtics vs. First Baptist Academy Lions

Neumann has gone 8-2 against First Baptist Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Neumann Celtics will challenge the First Baptist Academy Lions. Neumann has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Neumann is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They breezed by Community School of Naples to the tune of 60-24. The Celtics have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 23 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Mylee Van De Wouw, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracyn Crosby, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Neumann smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, First Baptist Academy ended up a good deal behind Gateway on Friday and lost 46-32.

Neumann has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for First Baptist Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5.

Neumann ended up a good deal behind First Baptist Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, losing 48-34. Can Neumann avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
