Baseball Recap: Toledo Has No Trouble Against Waldport

Toledo came into Tuesday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Waldport Irish on Tuesday as they made off with an 11-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Boomers, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Braden Marthaller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Marthaller was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two triples. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddox Law, who went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Toledo: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise. Justin McKibben was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Toledo now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Waldport, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Toledo will host Bandon/Pacific at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waldport, they will venture away from home to square off against Reedsport at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
