The BASIS Phoenix Firebirds will head out on the road to face off against the Pima Roughriders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as BASIS Phoenix comes in on six and Pima on eight.
BASIS Phoenix put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past St. Augustine Catholic 71-36 at home. BASIS Phoenix pushed the score to 61-27 by the end of the third, a deficit St. Augustine Catholic had no chance of recovering from.
Meanwhile, Pima didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Morenci on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 47-42 victory. Given Pima's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Morenci is ranked 117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
BASIS Phoenix has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Pima, they pushed their record up to 21-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
