The Sierra Vista Mountain Lions lost to the Silverado Skyhawks back in January, but the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions didn't allow the Silverado Skyhawks the same satisfaction on Wednesday. Sierra Vista enjoyed a cozy 46-31 victory over Silverado. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Sierra Vista has managed all season.
Sierra Vista was led to victory by Bella Concerios and Donnayja Gibson. Concerios scored 18 points, while Gibson scored 18 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Gibson has scored at least 25% of Sierra Vista's points. Taylor Lane was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Several Skyhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaitlyn Jack-Keller, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. The contest was Jack-Keller's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Timia Thomas, who scored six points along with four steals.
Sierra Vista is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Silverado, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
Sierra Vista won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Shalhevet at 5:30 p.m. on December 21st. Shalhevet will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 212th in California, while Sierra Vista is ranked 46th in Nevada). Silverado will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Basic at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Basic is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
