This season hasn't been kind to the Lutheran-Northeast Eagles, who are still winless after their fifth match. They lost to Plainview on the road by a decisive 54-35 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Lutheran-Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Plainview is ranked 75th).
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josie Spence, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Rose-hancock, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Plainview was led to victory by Teya Boyer and Abbie Kromarek. Boyer scored 14 points along with 4 steals and 3 blocks, while Kromarek dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was Kromarek's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Marque Albin, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
The last time Lutheran-Northeast won on the road was back on Thursday. Having now lost four straight away matchups, they've bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Plainview, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Lutheran-Northeast will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at 6:15 p.m. on December 14th. As for Plainview, they will be playing at home against Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Madison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
