Bishop Manogue and Damonte Ranch are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Miners will face off against the Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bishop Manogue has four straight victories, Damonte Ranch has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bishop Manogue is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Reed, who was ranked second at the time (Bishop Manogue was ranked eighth). The Miners blew past the Raiders 7-1 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Miners, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Sammi Boggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kiki Harris was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lo Faust, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Bishop Manogue hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 16 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch came up short against Reed on Saturday and fell 6-2.
Olivia Mares was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Glass, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double.
Bishop Manogue pushed their record up to 17-8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Damonte Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
Damonte Ranch's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Bishop Manogue has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Damonte Ranch, though, as they've been averaging only 1.9 strikeouts. Will Bishop Manogue keep running through batters, or will the Mustangs buck the trend?
Bishop Manogue skirted past Damonte Ranch 7-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Miners since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
