On the hitting side, Kyle Beaty was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Burkhart, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Rock Island got the win against Sterling on Thursday by a conclusive 9-3. The Rocks haven't had any issues with the Golden Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
The win got Rock Island back to even at 5-5. As for Normal Community, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Normal Community was able to grind out a solid win over Rock Island in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ironmen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
