Grant waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Reed City Coyotes as they made off with a 19-8 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Payton Shoemaker was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Shoemaker was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Grant got a massive performance out of Alexa Obenauf, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilliana DeLosSantos, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Grant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Grant's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Reed City, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
