Basketball Recap: Chrisman Comes Up Short

Chrisman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through an 89-51 loss at the hands of the Oakwood Comets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 82-54 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Chrisman lost, don't look at Gavin McCord. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points. The contest was McCord's fifth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Statler Mitchell, who had eight points and five rebounds.

Carsen Dudley was nothing short of spectacular for Oakwood: he shot 7-for-10 from long range and almost dropped a double-double with 31 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dudley has scored at least a third of the Comets' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Wallace, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 23 points.

Chrisman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Oakwood, the victory (which was their fourth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

Chrisman has already played their next matchup (against Judah Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Oakwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-41 win against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine on the 28th.
