The New Bloomfield Wildcats's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 win over North Callaway. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory New Bloomfield has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Jacob Fuhriman, who scored 24 points along with three steals and two blocks. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Jordan, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
North Callaway lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sam Pezold, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Clayton Moore, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, North Callaway were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Bloomfield only racked up nine assists.
New Bloomfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for North Callaway, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
New Bloomfield will be playing at home against Linn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Linn is ranked 353rd, while New Bloomfield is ranked 358th). North Callaway on the road again on Monday and play against Fayette at 7:30 p.m. on January 15th.
