Basketball Recap: Mineola Makes It Six in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Mineola, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 33-26 victory over the Edgewood Bulldogs on Friday. For the Yellowjackets, this counts as revenge for the 50-21 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Edgewood still got an impressive performance from Carmen Smith, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 15 points along with eight boards and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Smith a new career-high.

Mineola's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points per game. As for Edgewood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Mineola will challenge Malakoff at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Malakoff's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so Mineola's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Edgewood, they will take on Grand Saline at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
