Despite the defeat, Maritime Academy Charter saw an underclassman step up: Andy Figueroa scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Figueroa has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zibri Miller, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Maritime Academy Charter struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Academy at Palumbo now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Maritime Academy Charter, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy at Palumbo is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Speedboys at 3:15 p.m. on February 8th. West Philadelphia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 199 points over their last three games. As for Maritime Academy Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Overbrook presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Seadogs in Pennsylvania (the Panthers are ranked 235th, while the Seadogs are ranked 655th).
