The Holmdel Hornets put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 21-7 victory over Matawan Regional. Given Holmdel's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Matawan Regional is ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Matt Iulo was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Holmdel's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.2 points per game. As for Matawan Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Holmdel will stay at home for another week and welcome Camden at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Camden will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Matawan Regional does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
