Arroyo is 1-9 against Alameda since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Dons will host the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Arroyo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Arroyo came out on top against El Cerrito on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Dons blew past the Gauchos 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Dons, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Sadie Fernandez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Arroyo got a big performance out of Aneesa Aguon, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tati Rocha, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Arroyo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Cerrito only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, Alameda was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Eden on Monday, taking the game 7-3. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Monarchs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Mia Wong, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Gradney, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Alameda's victory bumped their record up to 10-7-1. As for Arroyo, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Arroyo has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Alameda struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
