Basketball Recap: Phoenix Day School for the Deaf Takes a Loss

Phoenix Day School for the Deaf fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to the Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind Sentinels. The Roadrunners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sentinels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Phoenix Day School for the Deaf still got an impressive performance from Donovan Etheridge, who posted eight points and 15 rebounds. That's the most points Etheridge has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Franchesco Yesuf, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Irving Arizmendi was nothing short of spectacular for Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind: he put up 31 points and eight rebounds.

Phoenix Day School for the Deaf's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3.

Phoenix Day School for the Deaf didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-30 defeat against Salome on the 10th. As for Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 84-26 loss against The Gregory School on the 10th.
