It was a good run, but the Baboquivari Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Patagonia by a score of 43-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Baboquivari has suffered yet this season.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lamyra Juan, who scored nine points along with five assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Kara Baptisto, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five steals.
Patagonia found their leader in underclassman Brianna Majalca, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Majalca scored 15 or more points. Emma Lewton was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Baboquivari's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Patagonia, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Baboquivari will head out on the road to challenge St. David at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. St. David is on a ten-game streak of home wins, Baboquivari a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Patagonia will take on Valley Union at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
