McDowell has gone 8-2 against Meadville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Trojans will challenge the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
McDowell's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Erie with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Trojans have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Gabriella Deluca was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexandra Smith, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mya Kaliszewski, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Meadville, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past General McLane 12-3 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Like McDowell, Meadville also got a great game from a two-way player: Lila Kightlinger. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Kightlinger was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kendall Mealy was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Grace Curtiss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meadville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The victory made it two in a row for McDowell and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Meadville, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4.
McDowell couldn't quite finish off Meadville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
