After both having extra time off, the Poudre Community Academy Warriors and the Timnath Cubs will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Poudre Community Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in December of 2023 after their third straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 75-45 loss at the hands of Denver Academy.
The losing side was boosted by Ian Voetelink, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 29 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Timnath lost to Windsor Charter Academy on the road by a decisive 60-43 margin two weeks ago. While losing is never fun, Timnath can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Windsor Charter Academy is ranked 49th).
Despite the loss, Timnath saw an underclassman step up: Max Roselle scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Roselle continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Raymond, who scored five points.
Poudre Community Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Timnath, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Poudre Community Academy was taken down by Timnath 61-19 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Poudre Community Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
