The Ross Little Giants will challenge the Calvert Senecas at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Ross took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Napoleon with a sharp 3-0 win. The Little Giants haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-7, 25-10.
Brook Baacke was the offensive standout of the match as she had six digs and three aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Ross was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Calvert made easy work of Lakota on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Calvert took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-12, 25-10.
Ross better focus on containing Claire Schoenberger and Kate Coleman as the pair were huge in Calvert's win. Schoenberger had ten digs and seven aces, while Coleman had four digs and four aces. That's the most aces Schoenberger has posted since back in September. Bella Borgio also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Calvert's victory bumped their record up to 21-0. As for Ross, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Ross has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.9 aces per game. However, it's not like Calvert struggles in that department as they've been averaging 13.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
