On Monday, Phoenix Christian got the win against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy by a conclusive 7-1. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.
Phoenix Christian let Kevin Palafox and Evan Matthews run wild. Palafox went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Matthews scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Sam Shores was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Phoenix Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scottsdale Preparatory Academy only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, Arizona Lutheran Academy scored first but ultimately less than Fountain Hills in their contest on Monday. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons.
Eric Urbieta was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Urbieta was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Aiden Frear was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Arizona Lutheran Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Phoenix Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Phoenix Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .528. However, it's not like Arizona Lutheran Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
