The Point Arena Pirates can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 98-31 win over Laytonville on the road. Point Arena's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading Point Arena to victory were Derek Billy and Fernando Lopez. Billy dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Lopez scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Billy hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Dauki Bechtol, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Point Arena pushed their record up to 13-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.2 points per game. As for Laytonville, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Point Arena on the road again on Saturday and play against Mendocino at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. As for Laytonville, they will square off against Potter Valley at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
