The Lafayette Hornets suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 70-49 defeat at the hands of Dixie County. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Lafayette has suffered against Dixie County since January 19, 2021.
Lafayette's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amarie Fleming, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Fleming hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Jordan Murphy, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Lafayette and nudges their season record down to 10-6. As for Dixie County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Trenton the next time they take the court. Lafayette will host Trenton at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Dixie County will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
