After a string of six wins, the Urbana Hillclimbers's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell to Bellefontaine 51-46. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Urbana came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Bellefontaine is ranked 605th).
Urbana's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lyza Forson, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Peyton Mounce who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Mounce scored a full 26.1% of Urbana's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brylee Spriggs was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Urbana's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2. As for Bellefontaine, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
Urbana will challenge Tecumseh at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bellefontaine, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Kenton Ridge at 1:30 p.m. Kenton Ridge is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
