The Notre Dame Prep Saints will challenge the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Notre Dame Prep sitting on four straight wins and Sunrise Mountain on three.
Notre Dame Prep took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Campo Verde, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints had just enough and edged out the Coyotes 11-9.

Marley Caldwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sammy Swords was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Imwalle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Notre Dame Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campo Verde only posted an OBP of .353.
Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain posted their closest victory since March 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Ironwood 20-19.
The team relied heavily on Mckenna Morgan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Pruetz, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Sunrise Mountain pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame Prep, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Sunrise Mountain's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Notre Dame Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Sunrise Mountain, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 strikeouts. Will Notre Dame Prep keep running through batters, or will the Mustangs buck the trend?
Everything went Notre Dame Prep's way against Sunrise Mountain when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Notre Dame Prep made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
