The Manitou Springs Mustangs won against the James Irwin Jaguars back in December of 2023 with 48 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Manitou Springs claimed a resounding 48-11 victory over James Irwin at home. That 48-11 margin sets a new team best for Manitou Springs this season.
Manitou Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tori Greene led the charge by scoring six points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of McKesson Rhodes, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, James Irwin were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Manitou Springs' win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4. As for James Irwin, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manitou Springs will take on Colorado Springs Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Colorado Springs Christian will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for James Irwin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty Tree Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty Tree Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
