Kingman Academy is 8-2 against Trivium Prep since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Kingman Academy will host Trivium Prep at 3:45 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kingman Academy has six straight victories, Trivium Prep has 18 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Kingman Academy took a 14-run loss the last time they faced off against Joseph City, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Kingman Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Joseph City 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 15th.
Emily Mathys made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Mathys was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Taylee Mote was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since March 4th. Another player making a difference was Brady Sanders, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Kingman Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Trivium Prep came up short against Wickenburg on Wednesday, falling 13-1. The game marked the Crimson Knights' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Trivium Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Coby Luekenga, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Trivium Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Kingman Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-3-1.
Trivium Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kingman Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Trivium Prep, though, as they've been averaging 11.8 hits. Given Kingman Academy's sizable advantage in that area, Trivium Prep will need to find a way to close that gap.
