Sweet Home hasn't had much luck against Williamsville East recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will welcome the Flames at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sweet Home 3.4, Williamsville East 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Sweet Home is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past West Seneca East 10-1 on Thursday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Eli Hansen made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Joe VanDusen and Aiden Mroz did most of the damage at the plate: VanDusen went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Mroz went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Mroz has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Brand, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Williamsville East, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Williamsville South 3-2 on Thursday.
Williamsville East also got a great performance from Jaxson Lichner as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Williamsville East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Hoffman, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Williamsville East pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.43 runs across that stretch. As for Sweet Home, the win got them back to even at 2-2-1.
