Aldine hasn't had much luck against Spring recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Aldine will look to defend their home field against Spring at 6:30 p.m. Aldine has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Friday, Aldine came up short against Eisenhower and fell 11-7.

02/28/25 @ Nimitz | 2 |

Aldine saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Guerrero, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Guerrero a new career-high. Another was Sara Sanchez, who scored two runs and stole three bases.
Meanwhile, Spring came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Mikayla Zepeda tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Keona Jackson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Jones-Calais, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Spring kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.6.
Spring pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Aldine, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Aldine has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .526. However, it's not like Spring struggles in that department as they've averaged .492. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Aldine might still be hurting after the 19-1 defeat they got from Spring in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Aldine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
