Leading Animas to victory were Diego Renteria and Lucas Mulganon. Renteria scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Mulganon scored seven points along with five rebounds. Mulganon also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Kohan Evans was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Animas' victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-5. As for Carrizozo, they bumped their record down to 2-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Animas and Mountainair will face off at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Mountainair is ranked 130th, while Animas is ranked 146th). Carrizozo and Gateway Christian will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
