Gresham won the last time they faced Century and things went their way on Thursday too. The Gophers were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Jaguars. The result was nothing new for the Gophers, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Ayden Gardenhire made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Gresham got a massive performance out of Alyssa Grover, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Gresham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Century only posted a batting average of .222.
The victory made it two in a row for Gresham and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Century, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Looking ahead, Gresham will head out on the road to face off against Forest Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Century, they will be playing at home against Sandy at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight.
