The Shakamak Lakers waltzed into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They managed a 45-40 victory over North Central. For Shakamak, this counts as revenge for the 45-40 loss North Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
North Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shelby Seay, who scored 6 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Scott, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Shakamak pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for North Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.
Shakamak will be playing in front of their home fans against Shoals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shoals will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 336th, while Shakamak is ranked 105th). As for North Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Bloomfield at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bloomfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
