The Heritage Hurricanes will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Lafayette Rams at 1:00 p.m. on November 25th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Heritage walked away with it. They strolled past the Blue Devils with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 23-6.
Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyree Wilson, who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Wilson's longest rush was for an incredible 83 yards. Zachary Ray did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lafayette entered their tilt with Lake Taylor with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Lafayette breezed by Lake Taylor at home to the tune of 41-7. Considering Lafayette has won nine matchups by more than 28 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Heritage's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.8 points per game. As for Lafayette, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Heritage took a serious blow against Lafayette when the teams last played back in November of 2015, falling 41-13. Can Heritage avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
