This season hasn't been kind to the Singer Hornets, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 52-28 walloping at the hands of Washington-Marion on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Singer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Washington-Marion is ranked 100th).
Washington-Marion can attribute much of their success to Lashayla Victorian, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 assists. Victorian is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Fantasy Brown, who scored 9 points along with 4 steals.
Singer's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Washington-Marion, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Singer will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Starks at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Washington-Marion's road trip will continue as they head out to face Plainview at 5:00 p.m. on December 1st. Plainview is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
