The Bowman Academy Eagles lost against the Hammond Central Wolves back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Bowman Academy's tough 48-23 loss to Hammond Central might stick with them for a while. Bowman Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-6.
Arbrianna McKinney and Janiyah Jackson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. McKinney scored 6 points, while Jackson scored 9 points. Jackson scored a full 39.1% of Bowman Academy's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hammond Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Indiah Hutchinson out in front who scored 15 points along with 4 steals. The match was Hutchinson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Henry, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
Bowman Academy has yet to win a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 4-3 record. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Hammond Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bowman Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Calumet New Tech at 7:00 p.m. on December 4th. Calumet New Tech comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Hammond Central, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Marquette Catholic at 7:00 p.m. Marquette Catholic is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
