The St. Edward Green Wave will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Edward comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
St. Edward fell victim to Marian Central Catholic's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Hurricanes. While losing is never fun, St. Edward can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 444th, while Marian Central Catholic is ranked 173rd).
Meanwhile, Bishop McNamara's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 57-0 loss at the hands of Chicago Hope Academy.
St. Edward's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged six points per game. Bishop McNamara has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
