In what's become a running theme this season, the Mandarin Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 60-15 win over First Coast at home. With that victory, Mandarin brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.
Mandarin had a senior duo take command as Ny'keria Thomas scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals and Kiyana Hunter scored nine points along with six steals and five assists. Thomas hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Chandler, who scored ten points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, First Coast struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mandarin pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.67 points. As for First Coast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.
Mandarin will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Flagler Palm Coast on Monday. First Coast on the road again on Tuesday and play against West Nassau at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
