Baseball Recap: Weymouth Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

The Weymouth Wildcats earned an 8-5 win over the Wachusett Regional Mountaineers on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Liam Barr looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Will Shanahan was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Danny Dreyfus was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Weymouth's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wachusett Regional, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Weymouth will challenge Durfee at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wachusett Regional, they will be playing at home against Nashoba Regional at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mountaineers 3.8, the Wolves 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
