Softball Recap: Goddard Has No Trouble Against Clovis

Goddard won the last time they faced Clovis and things went their way on Saturday too. The Rockets put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 16-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Juliet Gallegos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Gallegos was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Roxanna Serrano was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Marisol Hernandez, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Goddard and bumps their season record up to 11-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Clovis, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with the loss, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Goddard and Clovis will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Rockets are set to square off against their familiar foe Artesia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Clovis will face off against rival Carlsbad at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
