After a string of five wins, the Northwest Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were outmatched by Tipton on the road and fell 61-31. Northwest was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-10.
Tipton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clara Williams led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Schlotzhauer, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 21-2. As for Tipton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season.
Northwest will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Blue Birds at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Cole Camp will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Mustangs are ranked 97th). As for Tipton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Otterville comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
